Keith Blok dove right in to his responsibilities when he joined the team a year and a half ago as the Farm Manager and Head Cheese Maker at Flat Creek! With his new role also came a move down South, and he's been enjoying settling in to a new environment. Prior to joining the Lodge, he specialized in aged cheddar for more than 25 years, winning Best in Show awards at the World Championship Cheese Contest in held in Madison, Wisconsin and pulling in wins 10 years in a row (18 years in total) at the British Empire Cheese Competition. He comes with credentials as a Scientific Cheese Technologist, and he spent many years with Darigold, Inc., one of the major US cheddar commodity producers. His creativity and passion for his craft has taken the dairy to the next level in helping to share our products across the country.

Though he enjoys being surrounded by the splendor Flat Creek, you'll most often find Keith in the dairy working on his latest creation. Say 'hello' to Keith if you see him around the grounds, and he is always willing to engage in one of the 'cheesiest' conversations you'll ever have!

 

Wow! Love is in the air for this year with our Valentine's Day 2012 event in Swainsboro, Georgia. One of Southeast Georgia's favorite ways to romance, come join us to spend a romantic night with your sweetie!

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, we'll have one seating at 7:00pm. Bar opens at 6:00pm if you'd like to stop by for an early drink. The six course meal is sure to impress, and you'll also get to dance the night away with Dwight Wilson and Classic City Soul.

The cost is $110 per couple, and reserve now to stay overnight for an additional $185 per couple for a lodge room or an additional $370 per couple for a cottage!  A hearty country breakfast included with the room stay package. Prices subject to sales tax.

Valentine's Day 2012 Menu

Gina Henry has been brightening our guests' experience since joining the Flat Creek Lodge family as a member of our waitstaff three years ago. She enjoys chatting with people from many walks of life and from around the globe as she helps to provide them with the excellent dining experience for which we're known. The standout dish in the dining room for her is the Crab Avocado Salad, and Gina's smiling face is also often seen outside the dining room in other roles as she is a true team player!

Omar has been at Flat Creek Lodge since 2006. He is charge of landscaping maintenance of the golf carts, tractors and general handy man. Omar is friendly and always ready to help in any capacity. Since Omar comes in early in the mornings he gets to see Flat Creek as the sun is rising over ponds and fields as he is riding his tractor. Like so many, it's difficult for him to choose a favorite place as he really loves the entire property. He is lucky in that he isn't tied to one particular place and can see everything and every place.
Omar really enjoys a Chef Chewy omelet made with the fresh cheeses and vegetables from Flat Creek. When lucky enough to be at work in the evenings, he enjoys the Chef’s great steak.

When not at Flat Creek Lodge, Omar enjoys being with his family. Originally from Cuba, he has very little family here in the United States. Omar and his family enjoy exploring new places in the U. S. He considers himself very fortunate to be an U.S. citizen.
