WELCOME CHEF DAVID BIES!

Flat Creek Lodge Announces Rotating Chef Series for the Summer

Swainsboro, Georgia (June 1, 2009) – What’s better than an excellent visiting chef dinner? We say – having a rotation of famed chefs join our team! This summer, Flat Creek Lodges welcomes a number of chefs to join the team.  First up, this weekend, former chef de cuisine from Atlanta’s Restaurant Eugene, Chef David Bies.  Before he heads to Tokyo this fall, Chef David Bies will spread delicious joy throughout the Flat Creek Dining Room this weekend (and other weekends throughout the summer) offering four- and five-course dinners Thursdays through Sundays.

For the past four years as chef de cuisine at Restaurant Eugene, Bies assisted with menu development as well as all aspects of kitchen management. Prior to Restaurant Eugene, Bies was a fishmonger at Miramar Seafood Market in Asheville, North Carolina. He has also worked at The Woodlands Resort & Inn in Summerville, South Carolina and The Ritz Carlton, Atlanta (Buckhead). Bies earned a Culinary Arts degree from Johnson & Wales University in 2003.

With Flat Creek Lodge, Bies looks forward to creating menus with ingredients like fresh produce, summer berries and fish and game straight from the Flat Creek Lodge property. Coming from a tradition of cheese appreciation augmented by Restaurant Eugene’s monthly cheese events, Bies is sure to enjoy partnering with Flat Creek’s head cheesemaker Dane Huebner to highlight Georgia’s finest artisanal cow’s and sheep’s milk cheeses.

Bies and other fantastic Georgia chefs will head to Flat Creek Lodge this summer to bring the locally-grown ingredients straight to the table! For reservations and dining information, the Flat Creek Lodge Dining Room can be reached at 478.237.FISH or 877.352.8273.
